I believe in a service first approach to community. I want to see flourishing neighborhoods, strong infrastructure, and accountable government.
Meet Richie Mercado
I am a husband, father, and servant-leader. I have spent my life serving others and doing all I can to make things better for as many as I can.
I joined the US Army in 2006 and served as a Black Hawk helicopter pilot for just under 10 years. I deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and volunteered for a rotation to Eastern Europe for Operation Atlantic Resolve immediately after my last combat deployment.
After exiting the Army in 2017, I became an airline pilot and learned the importance of strong unions. I immediately began volunteering with my union and currently serve as a Steward for my Teamsters Local, answering contractual questions or defending pilots during disciplinary hearings when they arise.
I enjoy spending time with my family, outdoors, learning, flying, scuba diving, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with my oldest son.
MY Family
I met my wife Kristen, a Dickson County native, on 2nd Ave in downtown Nashville in 2012. From that day, we’ve never looked back. We added 2 wonderful boys to our family and eventually decided to put down roots after years of moving with the US Army and airlines. Our family is built on patience, love, and support.
As a family with special needs, we understand the difficulties of navigating the public education system. We also know that not everyone may have strong family foundations or resources to fall back on when times get tough.
